The new Triumph Speed Twin 1200 Café Racer Edition definitely belongs to a very special category. The moment you look at it, you already know this bike is not trying to be practical or sensible. It’s built for riders who care about style, emotion and that old-school café racer feeling. Triumph has launched this special edition in India at Rs. 17.99 lakh (ex-showroom), while it might be one of the coolest-looking motorcycles the brand has made in a long time.
The biggest highlight is obviously the design. The green and silver paint scheme instantly grabs attention, while the small front cowl, clip-on handlebars and tan seat give the bike a proper retro race-bike vibe. It genuinely looks like something straight out of an old British motorcycle film. Even standing still, the motorcycle somehow feels fast and full of attitude.
And if you’re someone who misses the Triumph Thruxton, this bike will probably hit you with a lot of nostalgia. Ever since the Thruxton was discontinued, enthusiasts have been waiting for Triumph to bring back a proper café racer. This new Speed Twin Café Racer Edition basically fills that gap and it feels like Triumph knew exactly what enthusiasts wanted.
Underneath all the retro styling is the same 1200cc parallel-twin engine from the Speed Twin 1200 RS. It makes 105 HP and 112 Nm of torque. The engine has loads of torque, the throttle response feels lively and the exhaust note has that deep classic sound that makes you want to keep revving it for no reason.
While it is a pretty-looking motorcycle, Triumph has given it serious performance hardware. You get premium Öhlins suspension, Brembo brakes and a quickshifter as standard. It feels like the kind of bike you wake up early on a Sunday morning just to ride without any destination in mind.
Triumph is only making 800 units globally, which makes this motorcycle feel even more special. At nearly Rs. 18 lakh, this is obviously an expensive motorcycle. But café racers were never meant to be sensible purchases anyway. They’re emotional motorcycles. And the Speed Twin 1200 Café Racer Edition feels exactly like that, a motorcycle built more for the heart than the head.
