UM Renegade Electric
India-spec UM Renegade Electric will come with a 150 km range

Based out of Florida, UM entered the Indian market in 2016 with its Renegade series of cruiser motorcycles. The American manufacturer also took covers off the UM Renegade Electric at the 2017 EICMA show. According to recent reports, UM plans to launch the electric cruiser in the country later this year. Initially, the model will be exclusive to the national capital due to charging infrastructure limitations. However, UM aims to ensure availability in other cities in due course of time.

Sitting on an all-new platform, the Renegade Electric gets an electric motor to push the power output to around 50 BHP. In comparison, the 276cc petrol motor that currently powers the Renegade range develops 25 BHP of power and 23 Nm of torque. The electric cruiser will come with three battery options with real-world range varying from 100 kms to 260 kms. There’s an option to go for a fast charger to be able to juice up the battery from empty to 80% in 40 minutes.

As opposed to the 6-speed gearbox seen on the petrol-powered range, UM Renegade Electric’s motor is said to come mated to a 5-speed gearbox. With the power output nearing the 600cc petrol motorcycle territory, UM plans to price the Renegade Electric at around Rs. 6 lakhs (ex-showroom) which will position it against the Harley-Davidson Street 750 and Kawasaki Vulcan S. UM’s Renegade range consists of the Sports S, Commando, Mojave and Classic priced from Rs. 1.64 lakhs to Rs. 1.98 lakhs (ex-showroom, Mumbai).
