Yamaha is developing the YZF-R15 for quite some time now that is likely to make it to Indian shores in the future. Now, new spy shots of the model testing in Indonesia have emerged online revealing more details of the 150cc street-fighter. A recent report suggests that the smallest MT in Yamaha’s lineup could come with a keyless ignition system.

The possibility comes from the fact that the spotted Yamaha MT-15 test mule misses out on an electric start button that is usually located on the right stalk of the handlebar. The interesting feature will certainly bring some novelty to the 150cc performance motorcycle. A major departure from the outgoing MT models in terms of styling, the MT-15 looks completely radical with striking lines and a very sharp looking headlight cluster that seems to take inspiration from the Kawasaki Z1000.

The Yamaha MT-15 will also be based on the Deltabox frame as the R15 and is likely to feature the same 149cc liquid-cooled engine under its belly with power output expected to be in the same vicinity as the full faired version. Further, the MT-15 gets gold finished inverted front forks while the monoshock setup at the rear has been carried over from the R15. The LED tail light is new though and the turn indicators look sharp and could get LED units as well. The instrument cluster could be an analogue-digital unit, similar to the one seen on the full faired model.

The upcoming Yamaha MT-15 will be a stunner to look at, given the fenders on either side of the fuel tank while the exhaust muffler is also new on the street-fighter. The report further states that the new MT-15 is scheduled for launch within this fiscal and could be officially launched in Indonesia between the December-February 2016 period. While there is no news on the Indian launch yet, we will certainly appreciate the street-fighter as part of Yamaha’s domestic lineup.
