JK Tyre, which is the co-sponsor of the first edition of the Volkswagen’s Polo Cup Race is planning to bring the Jetta Cup Race series to India within the the next three years. The organisers have already received over 200 applications for the first edition of the Polo Cup this year. The Polo Cup will feature 20 teams and 25 engines of the 1.6 litre diesel variant of VW’s small car. The sponsors will invest up to Rs 35 lakh on the maintenance of each race car. The three year partnership with Volkswagen for the Polo Cup in India will feature six races in the first season. The launch demonstration will be in Pune in May this year and the first race of the season is scheduled for June 19 at Coimbatore.
