It is no hidden fact that in order to stay relevant and visible in a market as competitive as the Indian automotive sector, one must constantly refresh and upgrade its products to bring them up to the latest industry standards. Volkswagen is known to follow this policy a bit to the extreme, as it often silently adds and subtracts features in its cars, leaving many customers confused. Now Volkswagen is spied testing new updates and special editions for its Polo, Vento and its subsidiary Skoda’s Rapid.

First up, a new special edition Polo called Polo ALLSTAR has been spied testing. The ALLSTAR edition Polo has been introduced in the market to promote the 2016 UEFA European Championship football tournament that will run from June 10 to July 10 in France. The special edition Polo features ‘ALLSTAR’ badging on the B-pillar, ‘ALLSTAR’ lettered sill plates, special alloy wheels, fog lamps and Climatronic automatic climate control system. The car caught testing was the diesel version with TDI badging which indicates that it will be powered by the 1.5-litre diesel engine, paired to a five-speed manual transmission.

The facelifted Skoda Rapid again makes an appearance here sporting a new bonnet, reshaped front bumper, redesigned headlamps, revised front fenders and a fresh grille. The changes on the new Skoda Rapid make the car resemble the international spec model. Along with the refreshed Rapid, a left hand drive Vento is also seen testing. Volkswagen exports the Vento as the Polo sedan to many Latin American and African markets from its Chakan plant in Pune.

The facelifted Rapid is expected to be launched by the festive season. The European version of the ALLSTAR edition Polo also comes with headlight washers, heated windshield washer nozzles and heated front seats, which are not seen here and thus will not be available in Indian spec car.
