The launch of these two new trims complete the variant line up of the Volvo XC40 in India.

The Volvo XC40 gets only a single engine option with the 2.0-litre diesel that produces 190 HP and 400 Nm of torque

Within two weeks of the launch of the Volvo XC40, the first 200 cars that were available at an introductory price (Rs. 39.9 lakhs) have sold out. Though, Volvo was expecting the first 200 XC40 R-Design trims to be sold out even before its launch, the company is still not complaining. To mark this occasion, Volvo India has launched the XC40 Momentum & Inscription Trims with prices starting at Rs. 39.9 lakhs.

The Volvo XC40 is now on sale in three trims in India, the base trim Momentum, the mid-trim R-Design and the range topping Inscription trim. Mechanically, they all remain the same with power coming from a 1969cc, diesel engine mated to an automatic 8-speed gearbox producing 190 HP and 400 Nm of peak torque. All-wheel drive also comes as standard in all the variants.

The interiors however have apparent changes. In the R-Design and Inscription trims, the XC40’s feature list includes wireless mobile phone charging, a 9.0-inch portrait-oriented touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, 18-inch alloy wheels, a 750-watt, 12-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, a powered tailgate, and heated front and rear seats. As for the base Momentum trim, with the exception of differently designed 18-inch alloys and the infotainment system, all the other features have been skipped. The R-Design’s adaptive cruise control is also replaced by a standard cruise control in the base trim.

Even though there is a compromise in loading the base trim with features, it is not the case while fitting the car with safety systems. The entire Volvo XC40 range get the same safety package that includes lane-keeping assist, blind spot warning, adaptive cruise control, pilot assist, emergency braking, ESP, traction control, hill-descent control and eight airbags as standard.

The range topping Inscription trim, apart from what’s on offer in the R-Design, gets a crystal gear knob, electrically-foldable rear-seat headrests, six-spoke, diamond-cut alloy wheels, subtle chrome elements for the exterior, driftwood inlays for the interior, and a charging point in the boot.

While Volvo had already began taking bookings for the XC40 R-Design, bookings for the Momentum and the Inscription trims are also now open. You can book yours for Rs. 2 lakhs/-. The prices for the Momentum, R-design and Inscription variants are Rs. 39.9 lakhs, Rs. 42.9 lakhs and Rs. 43.9 lakhs, respectively (all prices, ex-showroom, Delhi). The deliveries of this compact SUV are expected to begin by the end of August.
