Showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo in New Delhi, the Yamaha Cygnus Ray ZR has been launched in India, priced from Rs. 52,000/. It is offered in two variants.
Yamaha, in this round has tried to lure the teenagers and those looking for a sporty ride with its new scooter, the Cygnus Ray-ZR. The Cygnus Ray-ZR was unveiled at the 13th Auto Expo in Delhi and grabbed many eyes with its refreshing looks and features. The Cygnus Ray-ZR is targeted at the male species with the sportier graphics.
The Yamaha Cygnus Ray-ZR gets the same engine as the Ray Z which is an air-cooled, 4-stroke, 2-valve, 113cc motor powered by Yamaha’s exclusive BlueCore technology. Running on a continuously variable transmission unit, Yamaha claims that it gives the best in class mileage in the segment. The top end variant gets a front disc brake with cast aluminium wheels while the lower variant has the ordinary drum brakes. The 103 kgs weight of the scooter with high efficiency combustion technology will certainly have an impact on the premium scooter segment in India.
The introductory tagline of the Yamaha Cygnus Ray-ZR proclaims it as ‘Next-Generation Real Man’s Scooter’. Yamaha has basically tried to work upon the aesthetic factor of the Ray-ZR. The graphics have become more sportive with two refreshing colour schemes. The instrument console is now undoubtedly attractive and goes with the tagline.
Yamaha is definitely looking forward to increase its market share with this new launch. Presently, the scooter category constitutes around 30% of the total two-wheeler market. Priced from Rs. 52,000/-, the Cygnus Ray-ZR has set the hopes of the Japanese automaker high for the season. The claimed mileage is 66 km/l. The scooter is available in 4 colours, 2 for the disc model and 2 for the drum variant.
