Yamaha R25 Indonesia Exports

Indonesia has easily been at the envy of several Yamaha enthusiasts, as the country was the first to get their hands on the Yamaha R25 quarter-litre sports bike and as it turned out, it will also be the global production hub for the motorcycle. With the rest of the world eagerly waiting to ride the R25, it is now learned that Yamaha Indonesia will export the motorcycle to around 14 countries by early 2015, while around 30 countries are expected to be covered in the future.

The announcement came via Yamaha Indonesia’s executive vice president at the celebration event for 40 years of the company’s presence in Indonesia. The R25 is produced at Yamaha’s plant in East Jakarta that will be the manufacturing and distribution centre for the motorcycle globally. The Indonesian plant will also export the R25 to Yamaha’s home market Japan and the YZF machine was recently showcased in Vietnam as well. Launched earlier this year, the manufacturer has received an overwhelming response to the R25 and grabbed over 2500 bookings within 25 hours of launch. Keeping up with the demand, the Indonesian plant rolls out a new R25 off the assembly line in just 3 minutes.

The Yamaha R25 is powered by a 249cc liquid-cooled, parallel-twin, DOHC, 8-valve engine that produces 36 PS of power at 12,000 RPM and 22.6 Nm of torque at 10,000 RPM, paired to a 6-speed transmission. The company has also commenced deliveries of the R25 to the first 500 fans that booked the motorcycle online in May this year. Coming to the Indian launch, the quarter-litre sports bike is expected in 2015 and will be priced in the Rs. 2.5-3.0 lakh range, it might not be locally built. With the high anticipation levels from Yamaha enthusiasts and bike lovers alike, hopes on the R25 have been pinned high.
