South Asia is one of largest motorcycle markets in the world and thus has a fair share of bike enthusiasts who want to experience the thrill of high performance motorcycling on a budget. The recent influx of small capacity performance bikes such as the Suzuki Gixxer SF and Yamaha R15 have successfully enthralled bike lovers with their sporty handling and stylish bodies. Now Honda has launched the latest iteration of the CBR150R in Indonesia in the presence of Repsol Honda MotoGP riders Marc Marquez and Dani Pedrosa.

The 2016 Honda CBR150R features new styling elements such as the split LED headlamps, LED turn signals and new exhaust system along with re-positioned foot-pegs for a more racy riding posture. The updated CBR150R gets a sharper front fairing, fully-digital instrument cluster, new split seat arrangement with high-set pillion seat and new wavy alloy wheel design to add more sporty flair to the bike. It also gets a new split seat arrangement and LED tail lamps.

Mechanically, the 2016 Honda CBR150R has a reworked diamond truss frame for better rigidity and handling. The motorbike also has a longer swing-arm than its predecessor by 13 mm and thus a longer wheelbase. The baby CBR gets a race-inspired monoshock suspension to provide stability at all speeds and road conditions along with centralised engine weight with the unit moved forward by 40-degrees. The bike is shod with 100/80/R17 front and 130/70/R17 rear tubeless tyres.

The 2016 Honda CBR150R is powered by a single-cylinder engine, the same 150cc mill of the outgoing version which produces 16.8 BHP of power but torque output is 13.6 Nm. The engine is liquid-cooled along with fuel-injection and is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The motorcycle measures 1983 mm in length, 694 mm in width and 1038 mm in height and has 135 kgs of kerb weight. The fuel tank capacity remains 12-litres. The motorcycle is available in Racing Red, Revolution White, Nitro Black colours and also in the famous Repsol Honda MotoGP racing livery.

The new Honda CBR150R is launched with a price tag of IDR 32.5 million (Rs. 1.60 lakhs) and is expected to be launched in India by this festive season. The bike, when launched in India, will compete with other fully faired small capacity bikes such as the Yamaha R15 and Bajaj Pulsar RS 200, both of which are currently priced lower than the CBR150R.
