Bajaj Launches 4-Valve Discover 100T

Bajaj Auto finally launches the much hyped “high on technology” 100cc bike with the name Discover 100T. The 4-stroke, 4-valve 100cc engine produces 10.2 PS of power at 9000 RPM and 9.2 Nm of torque at 6500 RPM, which is 30% extra than any other 100cc bike in the country. It is mated to a 5-speed gearbox and runs on identical pair of wheels and tyres as the Discover 125 ST. The specification on the Bajaj Discover 100T is completely new in the 100cc segment hence, the most technologically advanced. Bajaj Auto claims a fuel efficiency of 87 km/l and it will hit a top speed of 100 km/hr.

As far as styling goes, the Discover 100T is similar to the Discover 125 ST, from alloys to the headlight, everything is identical to the 125ST. The Discover 100T misses out on monoshock suspension at the rear. The Discover 100T comes with an electric starter, DC lighting and auto choke as standard. Nitrox shock absorbers and a semi-double cradle chassis has been carried forward from the Discover 125ST for extra rigidity. There are drums at both ends and there’s no word about the Disc brake yet.

The Discover 100T will be available in four colors – Flame Red, Brilliant Blue, Black Red and Black Blue. Bajaj goes ahead and calls it the “Ultimate 100”. Priced at Rs. 50,500/- (ex-showroom, Delhi), the Discover 100T seems reasonable too, the standard/safety kit and the engine which Bajaj offers seems an excellent proposition to new generation of commuters. It remains to be seen how Hero and Honda respond to Bajaj’s latest offering, which is not only the most tech featured vehicle but also the first 4-valve 100cc engine in the world.
