Bajaj Auto To Flood Market With 6 New Discovers

Discover 125 ST Test Ride Review

The war between Honda and Bajaj Auto is now getting hotter with each passing day. While Honda has aggressive plans of launching a new product every quarter, Bajaj Auto is replying in their own fashion. If Honda has aggressive plans, Bajaj is all set to reply with six new models of the Discover! Bajaj Auto says their key focus will be on the Discover lineup this financial year. Pune based manufacturer says that they may or may not launch all six this fiscal year but they sure are on the cards.

Out of the six Discovers, four of these products will be between Rs. 40,000 – 50,000/- price bracket, which means a new low cost 100cc variant will come in or probably a new 110cc is in the works. The Discover 100 DTS-SI is one the best sellers in the segment and the newly launched Discover 100T is here to target the premium customers in this segment. By offering more variants of the Discover, Bajaj Auto might risk cannibalisation but overall sales will grow, which is the current focus of the company.

The other two products will be priced between the Rs. 50,000 – 60,000/- price bracket, which means they will be positioned at the premium end. All these six products might not have many differences among them but Bajaj Auto wants to flood the market with the Discover, which will help them to outrun Honda. However the Japanese automaker has a mind of its own and is not even looking at Bajaj Auto. Instead the focus for Honda remains on overtaking Hero MotoCorp, which they expect to do by 2016.

I an surprised to see from where does bajaj gets this much Capitol to change the manufacturing lineup like this. when other manufacturers are struggling to even make product refreshments.

Akash, mass production and sharing of parts helps Bajaj Auto make good profits.

So there we get; Discover for everyone. Like Hero Motor Corp which has many body types for their 100cc(pro. pro+,pro++…), like wise Bajaj seems to discover many Discovers for us to discover those Discovers; and later we’ll discover a new Discover discovering the existing Discover. Faisal, did u discover how they manage to discover so many Discovers?

  • Crazywheels

From now on we can see all the English alphabets as Tail name on Discover. May be they will dicontinue some of their existing discovers and replace with new ones. In my view, they will launch mono shock 100 cc Discovers- Discover 100 ST series. Good luck with that.

Confusing product line up continues from Bajaj. There was Japanese fellow who Bajaj had appointed who in his interview had admitted that Bajaj’s strategy is not focused and too many products are launched and pulled out. He also mentioned about him locking horns with Rajiv over this strategy… looks like he had lost the war.

  • Saurabh

What about my predictation, a 150cc 4-valve dts-i engine, mono-shock, semi-faired racing tourer discover, named Bajaj Discover 150RT (Racing Tourer)… ha.. its rival will be yamaha fazer… what you think Faisal???
