Ending 2014 on a positive note, Mercedes-Benz India plans to maintain the momentum of launching new products back-to-back in the coming year as well, and has imported five units of the 2015 CLS 250 CDI four-door coupe, stocking up the model ahead of the official launch in the following month. While the 2014 CLS coupe was launched earlier this year with a 3.5-litre petrol engine, the 2015 facelifted model will come with improved aesthetics and a relatively smaller 2.2-litre diesel motor that will not only be more efficient but less expensive as well.

Playing big brother to the CLA sedan, the 2015 Mercedes CLS coupe is visually striking with the bold front grille and swooping headlamps, while the rear gets the very beautiful petal shaped tail light cluster complimenting the drooping roofline. The four-door coupe comes loaded with well appointed interiors and a host of tech wizardry on offer. You get a 3D instrument cluster, ambient lighting, Harman Kardon Logic 7 audio system as well as a 610-watt Dolby Digital 5.1 system custom-tuned for the CLS, in addition to the stock COMAND system and other creature comforts.

In terms of powertrain, the 2015 Mercedes CLS 250 CDI uses a 2.2-litre diesel mill that produces 201 HP and 500 Nm of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels via the 7G-Tronic Plus automatic transmission and comes with a start-stop system, apart from other fuel saving technologies. Competing against the Audi A7 and BMW 6-Series in the segment, the 2015 Mercedes CLS diesel will replace the outgoing pre-facelift CLS petrol version and will also carry a significantly lower price tag.

While a launch date is not in sight, the new Mercedes CLS diesel will be first of the many launches the Stuttgart based giant has planned for 2015. The company will launch the CLA sedan next month while the diesel version of the new C-Class is lined up for launch in the first quarter of the upcoming year.
