Bajaj Auto will launch the Pulsar 200 SS in India next month, it will offer a terrific value for money proposition just like all other products from the company.

The upcoming Pulsar 200 SS will be offered with FI as standard, ABS is optional

The wait will end very soon as Bajaj Auto will launch the Pulsar 200 SS in March 2015. The motorcycle is highly awaited and will be priced aggressively to take on rivals like the Yamaha R15 and Honda CBR150R. To be offered in two variants – non-ABS and ABS, the SS 200 Pulsar will indeed get dual channel ABS and not a single channel one as a report suggested earlier. The bike also gets fuel injection as standard, leading to an improvement in power output which for the Indian model is rated at 23.70 PS while the export bike gets 24.4 PS, torque output is 18.3 Nm.

Just recently we went to Chakan for a launch event where we spotted the Pulsar 200 SS on test. We spoke to the rider of the test mule and verified the above details by seeing the bike in person, there is no ABS switch off button like on the KTM Duke/RC 390. We also heard the bike and got more details from the rider, the important thing to note is that the Pulsar 200 SS is way more refined than the Pulsar 200 NS, the bike with which it shares its 199.5cc, single-cylinder powertrain. Refinement levels have improved and the motor sounds sportier courtesy of the side mounted exhaust.

The riding position on the Pulsar 200 SS is very similar to the Pulsar 200 NS although the full faired bike gets clip-on handle bars. Prices will start at Rs. 1.10 lakhs (ex-showroom) and the sporty ‘Definitely Male’ bike will be offered in four colour options, all of them with graphics. Bajaj Auto is betting big on the 200 NS platform which has spawned a slew of models including the 200 SS, 200 AS, 400 SS and 400 CS. One can also expect the 400 AS and 400 NS although the same cannot be confirmed at the moment.
