Suzuki is working on a 250cc fuel-injected Gixxer that will make its debut at the 2016 Auto Expo before going on sale in March the same year.

Suzuki Gixxer SF Review
The 250cc model will be giving a big boost to brand Gixxer for Suzuki

While Suzuki Motorcycles India may not be a volume scorching manufacturer, it is steadily growing with the Gixxer brand having received lots of appreciation and applause, rewarding all that time and attention gone during the development. The company’s newfound success in the 150cc segment has now made way for larger capacity motorcycles as news comes in that the Hayabusa maker is gearing up to introduce a new quarter-litre motorcycle in India in March 2016.

The bike in question is none other than the Suzuki Gixxer 250 that has been rumoured for quite a while now. Even though Suzuki would like us to think otherwise, reports online suggest that the newest quarter-litre contender will be unveiled at the 2016 Auto Expo next February and will go on sale the succeeding month to take on the likes of the KTM Duke 200, Bajaj Pulsar RS 200, Honda CBR250R, Mahindra Mojo and the others.

It is believed that the new Suzuki Gixxer 250 will be based on the same single downtube frame as the 155cc version, but will be heavily modified underneath in order to handle all that extra power and weight lugged upon the bike. While we have been appreciative of the Gixxer’s design, the company could introduce the styling influenced from the new GSX-R1000 L7 that will certainly spice things up. In terms of power, a 250cc single-cylinder engine with fuel injection is likely to be on offer belting out close to 30 HP.

In addition, the Suzuki Gixxer 250 will get telescopic front forks, monoshock rear suspension, revised swingarm, meatier tyres and larger brakes. ABS at least as an option should be offered on the bike while a compact digital unit will be putting things in perspective. The affordable performance motorcycle segment is certainly growing and Suzuki should establish its presence here, it will give Gixxer fans something to look forward to in the company’s lineup. Prices are expected close to Rs. 2 lakhs (on-road).
