Society of Indian Auto Manufacturers has released official mileage figures of all cars sold in India. These figures are achieved under standard test conditions and look way too optimistic. Nice list – but again find it strange that the D’Zire petrol is listed but the Swift Petrol is not. Also the Multijets are not showing up at all from either Maruti, Fiat or Tata – any idea why ?

Still seem to be 15-30% on the higher side compared to what I heard from people using these cars. Maybe highway figures and not city drive. Optimistic indeed. The usual answer is it depends on the person driving – you can never counter that one. I wonder if someone collects data for a credible sample and counter these claims..
But of course way better than the fantastic numbers that were advertised in mileage competition sponsored by these companies.

Sushil, I too was wondering the same, but looks like SIAM got their hands on these cars and thus released the figures accordingly. If they test all the cars than I am sure the figures would look quite different.
