2014 Fiat 500 Front

Lads in the UK who were waiting for the small and powerful TwinAir engine can finally rejoice, as Fiat has launched the 500 with the new engine option and is available on order. The 500 has been refreshed for the 2014 model year. In terms of design, the Fiat 500 is virtually untouched over seven years of existence and the real changes are under the hood and inside the cabin. Coming to the new engine on offer, the 0.9-litre TwinAir turbocharged engine now comes with an even more powerful 105 PS variant with 145 Nm of torque available at 2000 RPM.

All that power is available at your disposal on the Sport mode, with 0-100 km/hr coming up in 10 seconds while the top speed achievable is 187 km/hr. Fiat also offers a lower spec variant with the same engine that produces 85 PS of power; while a 1.2-litre petrol motor producing 69 HP and a 1.3-litre MultiJet diesel engine with 95 PS also form part of the engine line-up on the Fiat 500. For the power obsessed, Fiat offers the Abarth 500 that comes with an even more powerful 1.4-litre MultiAir turbocharged petrol engine that produces 160 BHP and 230 Nm of torque and comes with a host of technology and safety systems to keep the car planted on the road.

Another major change on the 2014 Fiat 500 is the addition of a new digital instrument cluster that is available as an optional feature at an additional 250 Pounds (Rs. 24,800/-) and reconfigures automatically according to the selected driving mode or user preference. The 2014 Fiat 500 also gets a host of new leather upholstery and exterior colour choices and is available in hardtop and convertible body styles. Prices for the 500 commence at 10,160 Pounds (Rs. 10.07 lakhs) for the base variant, while the top-end non-Abarth version will set you back by 17,960 Pounds (Rs. 17.80 lakhs).

The Fiat 500 is loaded with tech which includes seven airbags, ABS, tilt and telescopic steering wheel, height adjustable driver’s seat, central locking, electric windows and much more. Fiat India will launch the Abarth 500 later this year as a CBU with a possible price of Rs. 25 lakhs (ex-showroom).
