The new soon-to-be launched Volkswagen Polo GTI two-door hatchback and the sub-four metre sedan Volkswagen  Ameo have been spotted testing together on a Pune highway. Bookings for the Volkswagen Ameo will begin from 12th May.

2016 Volkswagen Polo GTI Testing
The Volkswagen Polo GTI packs a whopping 189 BHP of power

After years of relying on just two models to bring in the volumes, Volkswagen this year decided to pull up its socks and prepared an assault plan to launch new cars in the segments which are seeing high growth rates, such as the compact sedan and mid-size crossovers. Therefore Volkswagen came up with the Ameo sub 4-metre compact sedan and has been testing continuously and once again has been caught by beloved readers on the Pune highway, along with the handsome looking Polo GTI hot hatch.

The Volkswagen Ameo caught testing on the Pune Highway is believed to be the midrange Comfortline variant and the TDI diesel engine powered version. Features visible from the images are full wheel covers, turn indicators on wing mirrors, dual barrel headlamps and fog lamps with static cornering lights, and adjustable rear headrests. The automaker has already confirmed that all variants of the compact sedan will be equipped with dual front airbags and ABS as standard.

Giving the Ameo company was the much awaited Volkswagen Polo GTI, which famously produces 189 BHP of power from the 1.8-litre TSI petrol engine. Notable features of the car are sportier front bumper with a slight lip, m-a-s-s-i-v-e front brake rotor with equally giant caliper along with rear disk brakes, and a rear bumper with an aerodynamic diffuser. Also, it looks like the car is not running on the standard low-profile tyres of the international version but on more ‘India-friendly’ higher sidewall rubber for extra comfort on broken roads.

Volkswagen will start accepting bookings for the Ameo sedan from 12th of May 2016 with deliveries being reported to start from July 2016 onwards. The car has been developed by Volkswagen by attaching a stubby boot to its Polo hatchback rather than chopping off the bigger Vento sedan. The Polo GTI on the other hand is a no-holds barred hot-hatch which will take on the equally bonkers Fiat Punto Abarth.
