The 2017 Yamaha R15 is being spotted time and again in Indonesia. The full faired 150cc motorcycle is long due for an update with the last one (V2.0) coming up way back in 2011. Details on the third generation R15 are still sketchy but with every spy shot, more information comes out, like the upcoming model will get striking LED headlights which are much different in design from the current ones.

The analogue-digital instrument cluster on the current model has dated as it’s in use since 2008, when the R15 first made its debut as a revolutionary model. The Version 3 gets a full digital instrument cluster which disappointingly isn’t inspired from the one on the R125 (also reminds one of the Kawasaki Z800).

The 2017 Yamaha R15 V3.0 also gets upside down front forks but the test bikes haven’t been spotted with ABS. The engine will get a displacement bump to 155cc (shared with the Aerox 155 and NMax 155), producing close to 20 PS of power. The liquid-cooled motor will get VVA for improved city rideability. The upcoming motorcycle will compete against the Honda CBR150R and Suzuki GSX-R150.
