Images of the 2018 Mahindra XUV500 have been doing rounds on the internet. The SUV is going to be launched in India next month and now has been spied without any camouflage revealing the exteriors.

Changes are more concentrated towards the front and the rear while pictures of the interior aren’t available yet. The front fascia looks fresh thanks to the new chrome grille with a mesh pattern. The headlights are redesigned and the S-shaped LED DRL has made way for an almost horizontal strip. The headlights feature projectors like before. The bumper also sees minor tweaks. The homegrown automaker has gone a mile ahead and also updated the rear profile of the car. The rear gets a new tailgate and the vertically stacked tail-lights have been ditched for triangular units. The reflectors have been placed below the tail-lights.

The 2018 Mahindra XUV500 is expected to get an updated touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Also, previous reports suggest that the SUV will come powered by the same 2.2-litre diesel motor but in a 168 HP (and 350 Nm) tune. The current XUV500 2.2 diesel makes 140 HP. The carmaker is also expected to introduce a G9 petrol AT variant equipped with a 6-speed automatic gearbox.

The XUV500 rivals the Jeep Compass, Hyundai Tucson and Tata Hexa.
