The 2018 Maruti Swift Hybrid has been spotted for the first time in India. The car has been spotted parked at the cargo section of an airport. The spotted car seems to be imported to India for testing or study purposes. The hatchback is identical to the Suzuki Swift Hybrid SL variant that is sold in Japan.

The Swift Hybrid seen here wears a Pearl White paint and features a Hybrid badge on the boot lid. There are projector headlamps with LED DRLs, fog lamps at the front, new alloy wheels and LED tail-lights.

The interior has an all-black layout featuring a touchscreen infotainment system, multi-function steering wheel and automatic climate control. The gear lever reveals that the imported Swift features an automatic transmission. Interestingly, the gear shift lever sports a blue finish that is unique only to the hybrid-powered Swift.

The Swift Hybrid is powered by a 1.2-litre petrol motor that puts out 89 HP of power and 118 Nm of torque. This motor is mated to an AMT gearbox. Being a hybrid, this petrol motor also comes paired with a 10 kW (13.4 HP) electric motor that only powers the front wheels.

The Swift coming to India will be based on the same HEARTECT platform as the Baleno, and thanks to this, the car will be more lighter. The 2018 India-spec Swift will carry forward the existing 1.2 petrol and 1.3 diesel engines that power the current Swift.

The Swift will be coming to India early next year with a debut expected at the 2018 Auto Expo. Maruti has not yet confirmed that the hybrid version of the hatchback will be launched in India.
