The Jaguar XF gets a 5-star safety rating

Safety – The last generation XF faced a bit of criticism as it could not score the top marks at Euro NCAP. But the new XF scored a full 5-Star rating making it in the same league as all its rivals. You get 6 Airbags, ABS, ESP, Traction Control and other electronic aids making it very safe.

The Jaguar XF is a good alternative to the Germans

Verdict – The Jaguar XF petrol has good performance, very well sorted dynamics and does not lose the feel-good factor typically associated with cars of this segment. The Jaguar is not the last word in refinement and comfort, but as a driver’s car, even the lower-powered Prestige variant does a stellar job. So if you are inclined to a driver’s sedan that looks attractive and is different from the usual German brigade, the XF deserves your serious attention.

Would you pay the premium Jaguar demands over its German rivals?

Testers’ Note:

“The Jaguar XF is a good looker, it has a flamboyant character, most of it derived from it’s elder sibling, the XJ. It feels quite luxurious inside too and has ample amount of features on offer. I really like the touchscreen infotainment system, it is quite user friendly. The 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine offers fantastic straight line performance, the motor loves to redline and it is good fun around the corners too. I would have liked a little more feedback from the steering though.” Aariz Rizvi, Assistant Editor, MotorBeam.
“Even though the Prestige variant produces lesser power, I didn’t find the XF underpowered by any means. In fact, I came out with impressed with the punchy petrol motor which pulls cleanly to the redline. The Jaguar XF is great to drive as well, offering very good handling while ride comfort is also good. However, the Prestige variant misses out on quite a few features so buying this makes sense only if the Portfolio doesn’t fit in your budget.” Parth Gohil, Associate Editor, MotorBeam.
