The Indian Nissan Kicks has grown in size compared to the global model

We drove the Nissan Kicks last month but that exact model isn’t India bound. Today, Nissan India officially revealed the 2019 Kicks that will be launched here to replace the Terrano. Compared to the international model, changes are far and few and it continues to retain most of the styling elements of the global model.

Up front, the 2019 Nissan Kicks comes with LED headlamps with LED DRLs and a honeycomb design grille. The body looks quite muscular and comes with a dual tone colour scheme, the car shown here gets an orange roof along with roof rails. The Kicks gets 17-inch alloy wheels, chrome garnish at the rear and a redesigned rear bumper.

In terms of size, the Indian version of the Nissan Kicks is larger than the international version. It measures 4384 mm in length which is 89 mm longer than the international car, 1813 mm wide and 1656 mm tall. The wheelbase is also longer at 2673 mm. This car is based on the M0 platform on which the Renault Captur also sits.

Nissan didn’t reveal the ground clearance figure of the Kicks and neither was the interior showcased. However, we expect the cabin to be largely similar to the international version with some changes to the equipment list and some more space. The boot space is also likely to be more. The Kicks will also get a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The Nissan Kicks will come with the same engines as the current Duster/Terrano. The 1.5-litre diesel engine produces 110 HP while the 1.5-litre petrol engine produces 106 HP. The diesel engine will come with a 6-speed MT while the petrol will get a 5-speed MT. An automatic transmission could also be offered. The Kicks will be priced between Rs. 10-14.5 lakhs (ex-showroom) to compete with the Hyundai Creta and Renault Captur.
