The next generation Honda City has been spied on test in Thailand, India bound next year.

The design language seems to be inspired from the new Civic

Honda City is one of the most popular cars in the C-Segment sedan space in India. In fact, it is the oldest nameplate in the segment and has a great fan following. The City is currently in its last phase of fourth generation. The new fifth generation City has now been spied on test in Thailand revealing some details of the new sedan.

The 2020 Honda City is set to launch in the Indian market next year. Surprisingly it is for the first time that a City test mule has been spotted, the fourth gen’s production version was seen directly during official reveal. The images reveal a lot of styling details of the upcoming sedan.

The front profile looks inspired from the new gen Hondas like the Civic and Accord with a mature wraparound face. The overall dimensions appear to be longer and wider than the current gen City. The rear profile gets LED tail lamps that are expected to be bigger in size.

Honda will continue to offer the 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel engine in the City albeit in an upgraded BS6 compliant form. The petrol engine will be a mild-hybrid unit that will offer better fuel efficiency. Honda is expected to offer CVT automatic transmission with both the diesel and petrol engine options of the next gen City.

The new generation Honda City will compete in the Indian market with the likes of the Maruti Ciaz, Hyundai Verna, Toyota Yaris, Volkswagen Vento and Skoda Rapid.
