Mahindra is working on an all-new Scorpio to compete with Jeep Compass and Tata Harrier and will hit the roads by 2020

2015 Mahindra Scorpio Test Drive Review
The all-new Scorpio will be a compact SUV unlike the current model

Mahindra is working on the all-new Scorpio, which will hit the Indian roads by 2020. The company is working on a completely new design that will get the proportions of a compact SUV (Jeep Compass, Tata Harrier territory). The Scorpio has been a super hit since Mahindra gave birth to it back in 2002. We have seen a lot of updates ever since it launched. This time the company will launch the Scorpio as the new BS-VI norms gets in.

The all-new Scorpio will be designed by the Italian design house, Pininfarina and Mahindra’s in-house team. But only the best design from both gets a chance to be in the production vehicle. We can expect it to be lighter and at the same time, powerful and safe with good quality interior. The Scorpio might get rid of the ladder frame chassis and is expected to get a monocoque platform.

This new generation Scorpio will target the audience of Tata Harrier and Jeep Compass, being the most premium Scorpio ever. Tata is coming up with its Harrier by 2019. Based on that, Mahindra will work on this new model and prepare for Scorpio’s launch in India by 2020. The new SUV is also expected to get an option of an electric powertrain.

The Indian carmaker is already working on a lot of new models. They’ve just come up with the Marazzo and will be soon launching the XUV700 (new gen Rexton). The soon to be launch XUV700 has already been spotted on Indian roads and will launch by October 2018. Mahindra is also planning to launch the S201 to compete with Ford Ecosport and Maruti Vitara Brezza. The S201 will get loaded with segment first features.
