This teaser has the bold claim

The 2023 Mahindra Scorpio could get a 5 star Global NCAP rating as new teaser makes bold claims

The upcoming 2023 Mahindra Scorpio which is set to disrupt the D-segment is now claimed to have another feather in its cap hinting a 5 star Global NCAP rating. Mahindra has broken this on its latest teaser of the SUV on its social media handles.

In its latest teaser, the UV maker had put up a statement saying, “The new Mahindra SUV makes even the crash dummy feel safe,” with 94 percent of the respondents ticking ‘Yes’. This means Mahindra is ready for Global NCAP to take the SUV for a crash test.

As far as India is concerned, it’s Mahindra which has the safest car. It’s none other than the XUV 300. The Ssangyong Tivoli inspired compact SUV has not just bagged a 5-star Global NCAP rating but also got more points than its other 5 star mates like the Tata Nexon and Tata Altroz.

If the upcoming Mahindra Scorpio, as per Mahindra’s bold claims, indeed, gets a 5 star rating, it could be the first car in the D-segment to ever bag such a rating in India.

Such a development could also help the SUV grab a major pie out of Kia Seltos’ sales as the Korean car has bagged just 3 stars in the crash tests.

Select Mahindra dealerships have already commenced the unofficial bookings for the 2023 Mahindra Scorpio ahead of its launch. Booking amount could be around Rs. 50,000/-.

Mahindra has loaded the upcoming Scorpio with many features that were never-seen-before on the popular SUV. For starters, as per latest scoops, Mahindra has turned its focus more on the 4-wheel drive system.

For the first time, select petrol engine variants of the Scorpio are going to get the 4-wheel drive system from the Thar.

The SUV will reportedly come powered by a 2-litre turbo petrol and a 2.2-litre diesel engine with both manual and automatic transmission options. The diesel engine, might get 2 states of tune with the lowered powered 1 finding its place on the base variants.

The petrol engine might be the mStallion 150 TGDi unit that puts out 150 HP at 5000 RPM and 300 Nm between 1250-3000 RPM.

The diesel engine might be the tried and tested mHawk 130 that exerts 130 HP at 3750 RPM and 300 Nm between 1600-2800 RPM. The mHawk is expected to put out the XUV 700’s numbers for the top-end models.
