India’s most popular and top-selling compact sedan, the Maruti Dzire is slated for a facelift in April. The car will get a redesigned front bumper and features that were initially subjected to the top-end variants, will be offered in the mid-spec trims as well. Features such as the latest SmartPlay touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and cloud-based connectivity functions including live traffic, vehicle alerts and voice recognition are expected to be part of the package.

The Maruti Dzire nameplate was introduced in India in the year 2008 and the compact sedan has been in the market for well over a decade. It has continued to be the top-selling sedan in India month after month. In January 2020, the Maruti Dzire sold 22,406 units to become the top-selling car across all segments as well. It recorded a year on year growth of 17%. In 2019, nearly 2 lakh units of the Dzire were retailed in India with YoY de-growth of 25% and its nearest rival Honda Amaze could only manage 67,715 units.

Under the hood, the 2020 Maruti Dzire facelift will continue to draw power from a 1.2-litre petrol engine producing 83 PS of power and 113 Nm of peak torque. It will be offered with a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT.
