The 2022 BMW 8-Series model range will come with more goodies from now on

BMW has unveiled the 2022 model year 8-Series and the M8 model ranges with a revised front design, 4 new exterior colours and additional standard equipment across the board.

The regular 8-Series Coupe, Convertible and Gran Coupe now get a redesigned front end. They feature the “Iconic Glow” kidney grille and come with M sports package as standard which adds aero-optimised body kit and 19-inch double-spoke design alloy wheels.

All models also come with M sports brakes (blue-coloured calipers), adaptive LED headlights, adaptive cornering lights, anti-dazzle high-beam assistant,

The V8 models (M850i xDrive) come with aerodynamically optimised ORVMs, a front splitter and rear spoiler. They also get a more powerful M sports brake system, the M sports differential and 20-inch alloy wheels (Y-spoke design).

These features can be added to the 6-cylinder models through the optional M Sports Package Pro. Other options that are on offer for the 2022 BMW 8-Series range include the laser light, additional versions of the 20-inch M light alloy wheels and the new 20-inch M Performance light alloy wheels.

What’s more, to mark the 50th anniversary of BMW M, the German marque allows customers the option to have the BMW Motorsport logo on their 8-Series instead of the usual emblem.

Inside, the models come with BMW Individual Merino leather upholstery, multifunction seats, anthracite-coloured M roof liner, M leather steering wheel, a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen, 12.3-inch instrument cluster, ambient light, 4-zone automatic air-con, and more as standard.

Two petrol-powered engines are available for each model in the 2022 BMW 8-Series range. The M850i xDrive variants use a 523 BHP, 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 engine, while the 840i (rear-wheel drive) and 840i xDrive models use a 3.0 litre in-line 6-cylinder motor good for 328 BHP.

On the other hand, the 840d xDrive variants make use of a 3.0-litre in-line 6-cylinder diesel engine making 335 BHP. The oil burner also has 48 V mild-hybrid assistance.

A special edition M850i xDrive Gran Coupe will be revealed by BMW on 17th February, 2022. It has been designed in collaboration with US artist Jeff Koons and hence is named “The 8 X Jeff Koons”.

The limited edition model will have an exterior with a multi-layer finish in 11 colours and an interior made with leather and “other exquisite materials”.

The M8 Competition models look the business

So what has changed when it comes to the M8 Competition models of the 2022 BMW 8-Series? The BMW M8 Competition Coupe, M8 Competition Cabriolet, and the M8 Competition Gran Coupe all get new 8 colours and the M alloy wheels now.

As standard all 2022 M8 Competition models come with the laser light with adaptive cornering light and selective beam, 20-inch M light alloy wheels, M sports seats, full-leather Merino/Alcantara trim, 12.3-inch touchscreen, and more.

Optional extras include M lamps Shadow Line pack, carbon ceramic brakes, different versions of M light alloy wheels, carbon bucket seats, among others.

All M8 Competition cars come powered by a twin-turbocharged 4.4-litre V8 motor delivering 617 BHP and up to 750 Nm of torque. The motor is teamed to an 8-speed M Steptronic transmission that is paired with the M xDrive all-wheel drive system.
