Nissan has unveiled the model year 2022 (MY22) GT-R for the Japanese market that will go on sale in the second half of October and it comes with 2 new special editions as well.

Called the T-spec, the limited edition models are based on the Premium and Track editions of the 2022 GT-R. They get a bespoke carbon-fibre rear wing, new engine cover, and carbon ceramic brakes.

They will also be available with 2 new exterior colour choices – Midnight Purple and Millenium Jade – apart from model-specific badging.

It is on the inside that the GT-R feels aged

Nissan has given the 2022 GT-R Premium Edition T-spec an exclusive interior, wider forged alloy wheels which come painted in bronze colour and recalibrated suspension.

On the other hand, the Track Edition T-spec variant of the 2022 Nissan GT-R comes with a carbon-fibre roof and, in addition, a carbon-fibre boot lid.

The T-spec was supposed to be called the ‘TM’, which is a code used by Nissan insiders to denote the R35 GT-R while it was being developed. TM stands for ‘Traction Master’.

Only 100 units of the limited edition models will be put on sale in Japan, and the buyers will be selected by lot.

Mechanically, the GT-R remains unchanged for MY22, which means it continues to be powered by the much-loved 3.8-litre twin-turbo V6 putting out 570 PS and 637 Nm of torque. The motor comes mated to a 6-speed DCT. Of course, the Nismo makes more power.

In Japan the Premium Edition T-spec variant of the 2022 GT-R costs ¥15,904,900 (Rs. 1.06 crore) as opposed to ¥12,329,900 (Rs. 82.50 lakhs) for the regular Premium Edition.

Similarly, the Track Edition T-spec is priced at ¥17,881,600 (Rs. 1.20 crore), while the regular Track Edition costs ¥14,636,600 (Rs. 98 lakhs). The base model GT-R, called the Pure Edition, costs ¥10,828,400 (Rs. 72.45 lakhs).
