Hyundai Motor India has revised the variant lineup of the 2026 Hyundai Creta, reducing the total number of trims from nine to seven. As part of this update, the carmaker has discontinued the SX Tech and SX(O) variants, effectively reshaping the positioning of the SUV’s feature distribution and pricing structure.
The Creta is now offered in seven trims: E, EX, EX (O), S (O), SX, SX Premium, and King. While the overall feature list across the remaining variants remains largely unchanged, the removal of these two trims alters the accessibility of certain features—particularly advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).
The SX Tech variant, previously positioned as a mid-level offering, stood out for bringing Level 2 ADAS features at a relatively accessible price point. With its discontinuation, customers seeking ADAS will now need to opt for the range-topping King variant, resulting in a higher entry cost for such technology.
Similarly, the SX(O) variant, which initially served as the top-spec trim when the facelifted version of the Creta was introduced, has also been removed. Its position had already been superseded by the newer King trim, which now anchors the top end of the lineup.
Despite these changes, Hyundai has not introduced any new features to compensate for the removed variants. However, buyers still have the option to choose special editions such as the Summer Edition, which adds select cosmetic and comfort-oriented features at an additional cost.
On the mechanical front, the Creta continues with its existing engine lineup. It offers a choice of three 1.5-litre engines: a naturally aspirated petrol unit, a turbo-petrol and a diesel. Transmission options include manual and automatic gearboxes depending on the engine, with the turbo-petrol exclusively paired with a dual-clutch automatic.
The update appears to be part of Hyundai’s effort to simplify the variant structure while nudging buyers toward higher trims for premium features, potentially improving margins while maintaining the model’s strong market appeal.
