Maruti Suzuki takes the top 5 positions on the list.

Top 25 Car Sales In November 2019

In October 2019, 8 out of 25 cars reported a positive YoY (year on year growth) and the industry got hopeful. The very next month the numbers have fallen to 5 and new vehicles have taken higher positions leaving veterans behind.

The Maruti Swift has become the best selling car after a very long interval. It is the only model to cross the 19,000 sales mark and toppled the likes of the Maruti Dzire & Alto. Despite great sales figures, it has recorded a negative YoY of 13%. The Maruti Baleno is a close 2nd and sold more than the usual toppers (Dzire/Alto). If we include the Toyota Glanza’s volumes; the duo would have been the best selling car! Last month’s topper, the Maruti Dzire is at the 3rd position after selling 21,037 units in November 2019. It is at the 5th position that the Maruti Wagon R records the first positive YoY growth for the month at 30%.

South Korean brand Kia has increased its rank at the table and has moved to the 6th spot (It was the 7th best selling car of Oct’19). The brand has also dethroned Hyundai to become the 2nd top-selling OEM on the list. The brand now arrives at the 9th position with the Elite i20 and a -1% YoY. It is to be noted that Hyundai has had 2 offerings in the top 10 list (i20 & i10). Coming back to the Seltos, the compact SUV has broken all records seen in the segment and has overtaken rivals like the Marut Brezza and the Hyundai Venue. The latter has not fared in the top 10 list since September 2019.

Against all the odds, we have the Maruti S-Presso at the 8th position after selling 11,220 units in November 2019. Slowly and gradually, the Maruti Celerio is vanishing from the top 10 list.

Triber has been the silver lining for Renault this year and is showing a steady performance since launch. The model is gaining volumes with every passing month and is an extremely positive sign for the French automaker. Triber contributed to 56% of Renault India’s volumes in November 2019 and is a clear depiction of how important the model has been for the OEM.

Ford has stumbled out of the list and made way for the MG Hector. It has taken the last position after selling 3239 units in November 2019.
