Maruti Equips Ertiga & Baleno With 6 Airbags As Standard

Maruti Suzuki has upgraded the safety of the Ertiga and Baleno by offering six airbags as standard. This update is effective from July 16, 2025, for all variants. This marks a big step in enhancing safety across the brand’s lineup.

Previously, both models offered only two airbags as standard equipment for lower variants. Six airbags were limited to higher trims until now. With this update, safety becomes more accessible to all buyers.

The company has also revised the prices following this feature enhancement. The Ertiga’s prices will increase by an average of 1.4%. The Baleno will see a smaller hike of about 0.5%.

No Mechanical Changes

There are no mechanical or additional feature changes announced for both models. The Ertiga continues with its 1.5-litre petrol engine option. It also offers mild-hybrid and factory-fitted CNG variants.

The Baleno retains its 1.2-litre petrol engine with a CNG version also available. These engines remain unchanged in performance and efficiency. The focus remains strictly on improving occupant safety for now.

Outlook

This move highlights Maruti Suzuki’s intention to offer safer cars to Indian consumers. Standardising six airbags improves protection for all passengers. It also aligns with global automotive safety trends.
