Renault relaunches Duster in India with new engines, features and pricing

Renault has reintroduced the Duster nameplate in India with the launch of its third-generation model, priced from Rs. 10.29 lakhs (ex-showroom). The SUV returns to the market after being discontinued in 2022 and is now positioned in the competitive midsize SUV segment.

Built on a new platform, the latest Duster comes with updated styling, new features and multiple powertrain options. Prices for the SUV range between Rs. 10.29 lakhs and Rs. 18.49 lakhs (ex-showroom), with deliveries of turbo-petrol variants scheduled to begin in April. The strong-hybrid version is expected to be introduced later in 2026.

Variants, Pricing and Subscription Plan

The new Duster is available in five trims – Authentic, Evolution, Techno, Techno+ and Iconic. Renault is also offering pre-booking benefits under an ‘R Pass’ programme, which reduces the effective price by up to Rs. 40,000 depending on the variant.

In addition, the company plans to roll out a subscription-based ownership model from April 1. This programme will bundle vehicle cost, registration and servicing into a single monthly payment, with flexible tenure and mileage options. Customers can choose to retain, return or upgrade the vehicle at the end of the subscription period.

Engine Options and Hybrid Plan

At launch, the Duster is offered with two turbo-petrol engine options. The 1.0-litre unit produces 100 HP and 160 Nm and is paired with a manual gearbox. The more powerful 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine delivers 163 HP and 280 Nm, with the option of a manual or dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Renault has confirmed that a strong-hybrid powertrain will be introduced by Diwali 2026. This setup will combine a petrol engine with electric motor assistance, with a combined output of around 160 HP.

Exterior Design and Dimensions

The India-spec Duster features a redesigned exterior with distinctive elements such as LED headlamps with integrated daytime running lights, a bold grille with Duster branding and rugged body cladding. It also gets 18-inch alloy wheels, functional roof rails and a ground clearance of 212 mm.

In terms of size, the SUV measures 4343 mm in length, 1813 mm in width and has a wheelbase of 2657 mm. Boot space is rated at 518 litres.

Interior and Features

Inside, the Duster gets a revamped cabin layout with a dual-screen setup and a mix of digital and physical controls. Key features include a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless smartphone connectivity and dual-zone climate control.

Other highlights include ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, wireless charging, powered tailgate and leatherette upholstery. Practical additions such as sliding armrests and rear seat amenities have also been included.

Safety and ADAS

Safety features include six airbags as standard, disc brakes on all wheels, tyre pressure monitoring system and a 360-degree camera. The SUV is also equipped with Level 2 ADAS functions, making it the first Renault model in India to offer this technology.

Renault aims to achieve a 5-star safety rating for the Duster. The SUV will be offered with a standard warranty package of 7 years or 1,50,000km.

Market Positioning

The new Duster enters a highly competitive segment, taking on rivals such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, Tata Sierra, Toyota Hyryder, Honda Elevate, Volkswagen Taigun and Skoda Kushaq.
