Aprilia SXR 160 to launch by end of September

Aprilia lift the veils off their upcoming high-performance scooter at the Auto Expo 2020. The SXR 160 maxi-scooter attracted a lot of attention at the biennial event in India.

The ongoing Coronavirus pandemic has forced the bike maker to delay the launch. The Aprilia SXR 160 will now be launched by September end this year as reported earlier.

However, the smaller capacity version of the scooter is further delayed. The Aprilia SXR 125 launch was scheduled with the 160 sibling. Now, it has been pushed further to January 2021.

Diego Graffi, CEO and MD Piaggio has confirmed the delay of the launch. Due to the prolonged lockdown, the entry-level SXR 125 will take time to hit the market.

The smaller capacity maxi-scooter will have the same styling as the SXR 160. However, it will get different graphics to differentiate the two models.

Some key highlights of the SXR 125 include LED headlight, DRLs, LED tail light, all-digital instrument cluster and Bluetooth connectivity.

It will share the same engine with the SR 125. The 125cc motor produces 10 PS and 9.7 Nm of torque. The SXR 125 will get drum brakes devoid and no ABS for aggressive pricing. Likely to be priced at Rs. 1.05 lakhs (ex-showroom).
