Audi India will be launching the S6 sports saloon in the country by October 2012. The German automaker showcased the Audi S6 at the 2012 Auto Expo and will offer the vehicle against the BMW M5 and Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG, both of which are on sale in India for a price of around Rs. 1 crore. The Audi S6 will be priced around the same point, being brought in as a completely built unit due to the small volumes that it will do. The Audi S6 is based on the Audi A6 and is the sports version of the car, with better performance, handling and parts. With a significant part of the body made of Aluminium, the S6 weighs quite less too. But with these German performance machines costing a cool Rs. 1 crore, the Mitsubishi Evo X (priced at Rs. 50 lakhs) all of a sudden starts making sense.

The 2012 Audi S6 is powered by a 4.0-litre TFSI V8 engine which uses twin-turbo to produces an insane 420 BHP of power and 550 Nm of constant juicy torque to all four wheels from as low as 1400 RPM all the way to 5300 RPM. This engine is a new unit which replaces the 5.20-litre V10 motor found on the previous generation Audi S6. The engine is mated to a 7-speed dual clutch gearbox with the Quattro AWD system ensuring you go where you point the tyres to. The Audi S6 will reach 100 km/h from a standstill in just 4.8 seconds, with the top speed limited to 250 km/h. But the Audi S6 won’t guzzle fuel like other V8 twin-turbos, thanks to the cylinder deactivation technology which shuts down 4-cylinders when part throttle is used. This is said to reduce fuel conspumption 25% ensuring the S6 returns 10 km/l when driven sanely (but that beats the purpose of buying the S6 in the first place). The Audi S6 rides on 19-inch wheels and comes with all the flamboyance you expect from a S-line Audi.
