Bajaj is gearing up to introduce a Pulsar motorcycle with a 125cc engine in India. While speculations ran in favour of the NS 125, it is confirmed that the Pulsar 125 will join the fleet. While the Pulsar NS 125 is sold well in the international market, India stands different and favours the Pulsar brand instead.

Bajaj is possibly moving towards a 125cc model due to the ABS rule, hike in insurance rates and the required upgrade to BS6 engines. A large portion of 2-wheeler customers are looking at a spike of 20% or more in a period of 2-3 years. It is expected that the Pulsar 125 will have an exterior similar to the Pulsar 150 which is currently the most affordable bike in the range. If that happens, the Pulsar 125 will bear a single seat design, no fuel tank extensions and a rear drum brake.

Though the company is yet to confirm specifications, one can expect the Bajaj Pulsar 125 to be similar to the NS 125 which runs on a 125cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine with a 4-valve head and a 5-speed gearbox. It produces 13.2 PS of power and a peak torque of 11.4 Nm.

The Bajaj Pulsar 125 is expected to be priced around Rs. 65,000/- (ex-showroom), and be available in the market in a month or two.
