Bajaj Auto will be slowly phasing out the old Pulsar as it makes way for the all new model. The company will be launching the next generation Pulsar 200 NS in April, 2012 and will be gradually pulling out old models including the Pulsar 220, Pulsar 180 followed by the Pulsar 150. Bajaj Auto will unveil the next generation Pular 150 in the second half of this year and will only discontinue the current Pulsar 150 after the next generation P150 goes on sale. However the first Pulsar from the first generation to be axed will be the Pulsar 180.

Bajaj Auto has not made any official statements on the discontinuation of the old models and when it will happen. At the unveil of the Pulsar 200 NS, Rajiv Bajaj did state that the old models will be gradually pulled off the market. With the Pulsar 200 NS expected to go on sale next month, Bajaj would not want to cannabilize sales of the new model and hence will first pull off the Pulsar 180 and Pulsar 220 off the market. The Pulsar 200 NS is expected to be priced at around Rs. 95,000/- (on-road, Pune), which is roughly Rs. 10,000/- more than the Pulsar 220F. The new Pulsars will not be sold at the Probiking showrooms.
