Benelli has a new tie-up with Hyderabad’s Mahavir Group. The company plans to invest at least Rs. 200 crores in its India operations over the next two years as a strategic plan to enter India’s mass and electric two-wheeler segment. Currently, the company sells five models in the 300cc-600cc range as completely knocked-down units, which are then assembled at a facility near Hyderabad.

Benelli officials have said that the Chinese manufacturing facility can produce up to 120 crore units of motorcycles annually and is set to make India as its second manufacturing hub after China to expand its horizons.

Benelli is already a top manufacturer in the electric vehicle segment in China and it is imminent that the company will bring their products here in the Indian market. The company has plans to launch five more motorcycles in the premium segment in India and they also intend to bring mass-market commuter motorcycles over the next two years.
