Bentley Bacalar Mulliner Coachbuilt
The firm hopes this new strategy will keep it going for the next 100 years

Bentley, under its Beyond100 strategy, has confirmed that it will switch its entire model range to battery electric vehicles by 2030.

The British brand plans to become a global leader in sustainable luxury mobility and aims to be end-to-end carbon neutral by 2030.

First up, the firm will offer two new PHEVs in 2021, then every model line will come with the option of a hybrid variant by 2023, before the entire range offers exclusively plug-in hybrid or battery electric vehicles by 2026.

With the reveal of the all-electric EXP 100 GT concept car in its centenary year, Bentley gave us a glimpse of its electrified future. Its first EV will be launched in 2025.

Beyond making next generation cars that will shun fossil fuel-powered engines, the Bentley Beyond100 strategic plan would also involve the firm improving its factory’s environmental operations.

While the brand’s 80-year-old headquarters is already named carbon neutral (there are 30,000 solar panels on site, among other innovative solutions), the firm says it will reduce factory emissions further to make it a climate positive facility by 2030.

Moreover, by the end of this year, all of the Crewe-based firm’s suppliers will have passed a sustainability audit, verifying their sustainability credentials.

Currently operational in 68 markets, the firm also wants to be financially strong going into the future and thus aims to fundamentally restructure its business.

It will also be investing in two new research and development buildings, a vehicle test centre and a dedicated launch quality centre with a greater focus on digitalisation.

Finally, the Bentley Beyond100 plan will also include its bespoke division, Mulliner, which now has a three-portfolio structure comprising Mulliner Classic, Mulliner Collections and Mulliner Coachbuilt.

Remember the recently revealed Bacalar? Well, it signifies the start of this new age as the first member of the Mulliner Coachbuilt family. Welcome to Bentley’s future everyone.
