Chevrolet Enjoy Diesel MPV

General Motors is leaving no stone unturned to ensure that the upcoming Chinese cars from its portfolio are reliable. The American automaker has been extensively testing the Sail U-VA, Sail sedan and Enjoy MPV through out the country. The Chevrolet Sail U-VA was expected to be launched in July but the launch will now happen in August. Avid MotorBeam reader Shrikanth Achar has sent in pictures of the Enjoy MPV doing rounds in Bangalore. Srikanth had earlier sent us spy pictures of a Volvo bus and Toyota Prius, which too were spotted in Bangalore.

The Chevrolet Enjoy MPV will be launched this festive season, around October 2012. It will be offered with both petrol and diesel engine options. The diesel Enjoy will use the national diesel engine of India but with a variable geometry turbocharger. The 1.3-litre Multijet engine which produces 89 BHP of power and 200 Nm of torque. The petrol engine will be the 1.4-litre motor which produces 95 BHP of power. Both these engines will be mated to a 5-speed manual transmission.

General Motors will not position the Enjoy MPV against the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, as the latter is significant better in quality and dynamics. Instead, GM will price the Enjoy between Rs. 5-7 lakhs, slotting it right below the Tavera. The Enjoy MPV will become a good alternative for people looking to buy something bigger than the Maruti Suzuki Eeco, while not having the Mahindra Xylo in their budgets. The Enjoy will storm the fleet market and if GM really wanted to woo private buyers, the company should have brought in the Spin MPV, which was recently unveiled.
