The AMT version of the Datsun redi-GO will be launched with the 1.0-litre engine in 2017.

Datsun later this year, will bring in the redi-GO hatch with a larger and more powerful 1.0-litre engine. The engine will be the same unit that does its duty in the 1.0-litre Renault Kwid. There is an AMT gearbox on offer as well that will sell alongside a standard 5-speed manual. The new models are expected to be launched by mid-2017.

The Datsun redi-GO was launched in June last year and later the automaker launched the more stylish variant of the car, the redi-GO Sport which did help sell a few units more. The current model houses a 799cc engine under the hood with 54 HP of power, that comes with only a 5-speed manual gearbox.

The addition of 1.0-litre engine to the Kwid has done wonders for Renault, and Datsun hopes the same to happen to the redi-GO as well. The 1.0-litre version of the redi-GO is expected to be pricier by around Rs. 30,000/- and it will compete with the Maruti Alto K10, Hyundai Eon 1.0 and Renault Kwid 1.0.
