Ducati’s Indian operations will now be looked upon by its parent company Audi

Having first entered the Indian market in 2008, Ducati’s innings have been far from exciting only to have tarnished the iconic manufacturer’s image among customers. Learning from their bad decisions in the past or as customers call it Precision Motors, the Italian superbike maker is set to commence round two in the country very soon and will be entering the market with the backing of its parent company Audi, bringing its entire fleet of high performance, gorgeous, Italian bred motorcycles.

With its first dealership under construction in Gurgaon and the second to open in Mumbai, Ducati will be commencing its Indian operations on 18th March. The company will be bringing practically its entire range comprising of the Monster series, Panigale 899 and 1199 Supersports, Diavel power cruiser range, Hyperstrada and the Multistrada 1200 multi-purpose adventure bike. Ducati is missing out on the Streetfighter 848 for the Indian market though.

One of best bike makers globally, Ducati’s volumes are set to come from what would be its most affordable bike, the new ‘Scrambler’. With the Scrambler recently launched globally, it may not be available immediately in the Indian market but could make its debut in the second half of 2015. Ducati will be importing its entire fleet from Thailand and courtesy of the healthy trade agreements between India and Thailand, the Scrambler will come at an attractive price tag of around Rs. 7 lakhs (ex-showroom).

Coming to the core issue of tarnished customers, Ducati will be addressing older customer issues by making service and spares support available from the factory in India. The company’s service technicians are trained and ready and all operations from now will be handled directly by its parent company. The brand will also be expanding its dealership base across the country with time that will ensure sales and service support to a wider customer base.
