The Italian prancing horse, Ferrari made its presence felt at the 2012 Geneva International Motor Show by unveiling the successor of their previous model, the 599 GTB. The replacing horse is jaw dropping svelter and more exquisite than its predecessor. Termed as the F12 Berlinetta, it ushers a new generation of Ferrari 12 cylinders and classic designs with modern aerodynamic design features. The Ferrari F12 Berlinetta was first revealed to the world at Ferrari’s official site, Ferrari.com before being unveiled in flesh at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show. The F12 Berlinetta is, in fact, the fastest and most powerful Ferrari ever built by the company but it looks so boring. I mean look at it, it just looks like any other Ferrari and has brought nothing new to the table as far as styling goes.

The F12 Berlinetta gets an all new space frame chassis and bodyshell which has been made using 12 different kinds of alloys, some of which have been used here for the first time in the automotive sector, and employing new assembly and joining techniques all done by Scaglietti. This high tech engineering has resulted in a kerb weight of just 1525kgs, 70 kgs lighter than its predecessor. The design has also undertaken extensive study of the aerodynamics and wind tunnel testing resulting in a Cd value of just 0.299. Downforce has been increased by about 76%. The exterior designing has been carried out jointly by the Ferrari Styling Centre and Pininfarina, and when such great design heads sit, a car like the F12 Berlinetta is evident.

Under the hood, the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta gets a 65 degree, 6.3 litre V12 engine that produces 730 HP (740 CV) of power at 8500 RPM and 690 Nm of torque at 6000 RPM. The car can do a 0 to 100 km/h sprint in just 3.1 seconds with a top speed of 340km/h. Fuel consumption value stands at 15 litres/100 km with CO2 emission at 350g/km. In terms of dimensions, the car measures 4618mm in length, 1942mmin width and 1273mm in height. Standard features in the F12 include the use of carbon ceramic brakes, magnetorheological suspension control system, E-Diff, ESP Premium, F1-Trac and High Performance ABS.
