Post its global unveil at the Geneva Motor Show in 2016, the new Ferrari GTC4Lusso has finally hit Indian shores with its official launch. Loaded with utmost luxury and performance improvements, this versatile machine comes as a successor to the iconic Ferrari FF. The supercar looks crisp and is claimed to have adopted a more aerodynamic design philosophy.

Testimony to this claim is the presence of new air intakes and vents. The 4-seater car uses a staggered setup and is shod with massive 20-inch rims which greatly add to the visual appeal. Ferrari’s signature twin rear lights over the chiselled rear end lend it a fastback-like appearance. Add to that the presence of quad exhaust pipes, which further reinforces the fact that this supercar means business.

A retuned naturally-aspirated 6.2-litre motor, borrowed from the FF, does duty under the hood. The V12 engine now pushes out 29 BHP (power) and 14 Nm (torque) more, taking the power figure to a respectable 680 BHP. It comes mated to a 7-speed dual clutch transmission. Expectedly, the FF replacement is quicker to the 100 km/hr mark by 0.3 seconds, cracking it in just 3.4 seconds. Taking its seamless aerodynamic design and four-wheel drive system in its stride, it reaches a top speed of 335 km/hr. Ferrari’s anti-knock control, new piston heads, four-wheel steering and weight reduction measures have let the Ferrari GTC4Lusso set benchmarks in performance and practicality.

The GTC4 Lusso is accompanied by its sibling, the GTC4 Lusso T which comes with a smaller V8 engine. This V8 engine is a 3.9-litre turbocharged unit unleashing 610 HP and 760 Nm of torque. In the 0-100 km/hr run, the GTC4 Lusso T is 0.2 second slower than the V12 engined variants.

Even the intricate details of its beautiful cabin have been given utmost attention. Based on the dual-cockpit architecture, the leather interiors create a luxurious and sophisticated aura. Driver and passenger cabins have been specifically designed keeping ergonomics and aesthetics in mind. The improved infotainment system, which uses a 10.25-inch touchscreen, is faster and more intuitive to use. It gets satellite navigation with 3D maps, Split View feature and Apple CarPlay connectivity as well. The cockpit utilises impressive sound dampening and a quieter climate control system to deliver an excellent driving experience.

Ferrari’s improved 4RM-S system works in sync with the electronic differential and suspension damping system to provide a comfortable and confident drive over various road conditions. Thanks to the torque vectoring system, handling and grip levels are improved due to better distribution of torque across the wheels.

Weight distribution, of 47% at the front and 53% at the rear, is maintained even in changing conditions. With a plethora of other sensors and controls, the Italian giant has redefined top class on-board experience with this supercar. Launched at a price of Rs. 4.20 crores for the V8 engine and Rs. 5.20 crores for the V12 engine (ex-showroom, Mumbai), the GTC4Lusso takes the fight against the likes of Bentley Continental GT and Aston Martin DB11.
