In addition to witnessing growth in India, Fiat achieved another milestone rolling out 3 lakhs cars from its Ranjangaon plant which is located near Pune. A joint venture between Fiat and Tata Motors, the Ranjangaon plant is a major facility with the capacity to produce 1.60 lakh vehicles annually, along with 3.50 lakh petrol and diesel engines that not only power Fiat vehicles, but also Tata and Maruti Suzuki cars. The 3,00,000 unit produced was a Fiat Linea at the plant.

On achieving this milestone at the Ranjangaon facility, Fiat stated that the manufacturing facility has enabled the company to leverage synergetic benefits and will further aid in tapping the potential that the growing Indian market has to offer. The facility will also be utilised to produce a range of new products that will be launched in the future by both Tata and Fiat. The manufacturing facility is spread over 200 acres and employs over 4000 highly trained personnel.

Last year, the Ranjangaon plant also achieved the landmark of producing 5 lakh engines including the 1.2 and 1.4-litre Fire petrol engines and the 1.3-litre Multijet diesel engine. The Ranjangaon plant produces a range of vehicles which include the Fiat Linea and Punto, Tata Manza and Indica V2 models. The plant will also manufacture the soon to be launched Tata Zest compact sedan, while the Bolt has been shifted to Tata’s own plant in Pune. Fiat’s next major launches in the country include the Punto facelift and the Avventura crossover models.
