Ford has launched a limited edition celebration edition of the Figo to celebrate its third birthday in the Indian market at Rs 4.16 lakhs for the petrol variant and Rs. 5.16 lakhs for the diesel variant (all prices ex-showroom, Delhi). The Ford Figo has changed the face of Ford in India, helping it to increase sales drastically in the highly competitive small car segment. In order to celebrate the success of the Figo, Ford has brought out a special edition, which gets a few extra features like MapMyIndia satellite navigation system, rear parking assist, rear spoiler, limited edition seat covers, ‘Figo’ branded scuff plates, signature badge and special decals.
There are no mechanical changes and the Figo continues to draw power from the existing 1.2-litre petrol engine and 1.4-litre diesel engine, both of which are mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. Both the petrol and diesel versions of the Figo Celebration Edition will be available in Diamond White only. Ford has sold over 2.7 lakh units of the Figo in India and abroad. The company exports the Figo to 35 countries across the world. The vehicle is only manufactured in India currently.
The Ford Figo Celebration Edition is based on the Titanium variant. The vehicle has been designed after taking feedback from existing customers. The American car maker is expected to launch the next generation version of the Figo in international markets next year, however there is no word on when it will be brought to India. The next generation Figo will replace the Ka globally and will fit in-line with the company’s One Ford strategy. Ford has also started a pre-launch campaign for the EcoSport, which is set to be launched in April.
