Honda Motorcycle and Scooters India (HMSI) currently holds the position of segment leader with more than 50% of market share in scooters. People have blind faith in the Japanese automaker and they lap-up the company’s Activa automatic scooter without thinking twice. Banking upon its reputation and the trust of Indian customers on its brand, Honda decided to launch a new and never-seen-before scooter-bike hybrid named Navi and now Honda says that they have accepted 500 bookings for the 2-wheeler in the first 2 weeks of launch only.

The Honda Navi is a unique bike squarely targeted at the urban youth who want good looks and fun-to-ride characteristics. Keeping this concept in mind, Honda has given the bike a funky look with a Honda Grom inspired headlamp, a low seating position with storage space, a light body which weighs 7 kgs less than even the Activa and small wheel size to aid maneuverability. Honda also has the pricing spot-on as the Navi starts from just Rs. 39,500/-.

Honda says that the new bike has generated much interest in customers and they believe that the 500 bookings in first 2 weeks is an encouraging response. Though it should also be noted that Honda sells about 2 lakh Activa scooters every month. The Navi, which stands for ‘New Additional Value for India’, can only be booked via a mobile app. Honda also claims that the bike is a 100% ‘Make In India’ product.

The Honda Navi is equipped with a 110cc engine which produces 8 BHP of power. The bike sends power to the rear wheel via a CVT gearbox and weighs just 109 kgs. It has a fuel tank of 3.8 litres and a ground clearance of 156 mm. Honda says that the production of the Navi will start in March and deliveries will begin from April onwards.
