Honda Fit RS Front

Honda has showcased the third generation Jazz at the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show. The new Jazz will be launched in India next year and it will feature both petrol and diesel engines, positioned alongside the Amaze. The Jazz is known as the Fit in the US and Japanese markets and is produced in 10 locations in 8 countries. Honda has managed to sell over 2 million units of the Fit in Japan and the worldwide sales are recorded at 4.87 million units.

The Honda Jazz has a very futuristic design that features “Crossfade Monoform Exterior Styling”. The interiors are designed for much better refinement offering space and practicality. The new Jazz will be getting three engine options which include a 1.3-litre Atkinson cycle DOHC i-VTEC engine which is mated to a wide-range CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission), that is claimed to provide a fuel efficiency of 26 km/l.

The second option is a 1.5-litre direct injection DOHC i-VTEC powerplant which is said to be 10% more powerful than the outgoing 1.5-litre engine. The third engine is a 1.5-litre Atkinson cycle DOHC i-VTEC which is paired to an electric motor coupled to a 7-speed DCT (Dual Clutch Transmission), returning an amazing fuel efficiency of 36.4 km/l. All fuel efficiency figures are derived from the Japanese driving cycle.

In the pictures here, you can see a sportier version of the Honda Jazz which is called the Fit RS. This RS version comes with an added body kit and the 1.5-litre engine is coupled a 6-speed manual transmission. This could be a great option for enthusiasts who want something powerful but yet fancy a manual transmission. This vehicle is based on the new platform which is not only lighter and more rigid, but also supports a body that is more aerodynamic.

Honda claims that the newly developed suspension offers lag-free body roll and a comfortable ride with minimum vibrations. The new Jazz also comes with a host of safety features which include VSA (Vehicle Stability Assist), HSA (Hill Start Assist) and ESS (Emergency Stop System), along with the usual SRS Airbags and ABS.
