This is the second time this year Hyundai has fiddled with the i20’s variants

Hyundai i20 variants discontinued include 2 Asta models, the company has also hiked the price of another variant

Hyundai India has silently discontinued a couple of variants of the C-segment hatchback, i20. This move comes in the backdrop of many discontinuations Hyundai has undertaken in the last 1 month.

In addition to pulling the plug on these select variants, the company has also hiked the price of another variant.

The discontinued variants of the i20 were Asta 1.2 IVT and Asta 1.0 Turbo DCT. While the former retailed at Rs. 9.95 lakhs, the latter had a price tag of Rs. 11.38 lakhs, all prices, ex-showroom.

With this, the total variant count for the hatchback has been decreased from 21 to 19 excluding the premium N Line model.

If you were planning to get the now discontinued Asta 1.2 IVT, you can now settle either with the Sportz 1.0 Turbo DCT for Rs. 9.81 lakhs or Asta 1.0 Turbo iMT for Rs. 10.05 lakhs, all prices, ex-showroom.

But, if you only want the naturally aspirated petrol mated to the IVT, you have shell out another Rs. 61,000/- and get the Asta Opt IVT for Rs. 10.56 lakhs (ex-showroom).

Likewise, if you were planning to get the Asta 1.0 Turbo DCT, you can now settle either with Asta Opt 1.0 Turbo DCT or Asta Opt 1.0 Turbo DCT DT. For the latter, you need to shell out Rs. 16,000/- more, which has been priced at Rs. 11.54 lakhs (ex-showroom).

In addition to discontinuing these 2 variants, Hyundai has hiked the price of the Asta (O) 1.2 IVT DT from Rs. 10.66 lakhs to Rs. 10.71 lakhs, all prices, ex-showroom. The variant is now dearer by Rs. 5000/-. These changes have been updated at the dealership level.

This isn’t the first time Hyundai has rejigged the i20’s variant lineup. During the start of March, the Korean manufacturer introduced the new variants – Asta (O) 1.2 IVT and Sportz 1.0 Turbo DCT.

The Hyundai i20 competes with the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Tata Altroz, Honda Jazz, and Toyota Glanza.
