Hyundai has launched the fifth generation Elantra in India today, which is being offered in a range of variants. The company used to sell the third generation Elantra years ago but never sold too many units due to the less demand of D-segment cars at that time. However with the new fluidic Elantra, the Korean automaker expects to take a chunk of sales away from its rivals, mainly Skoda and Chevrolet. The Hyundai Elantra is a vast improvement over its predecessor. The vehicle not only looks splendid, it is loaded with lots of features too.
The Hyundai Elantra is offered with two engines (petrol and diesel). These engines offer decent performance with excellent mileage. The 1.6-litre CRDi motor produces 126 BHP and 260 Nm. The 1.8-litre VVT produces 147 BHP and 178 Nm. Both these engines are mated to 6-speed manual and automatic transmissions. Hyundai has offered the Elantra in 7 variants, 3 petrol and 4 diesel. The trim levels are S, SX MT, SX AT for both petrol and diesel engines and the extra variant on the diesel version is called low. All variants come equipped with reverse parking sensors, ABS, dual airbags, alloy wheels and 4-wheel disc brakes as standard.

The Hyundai Elantra is equipped with hill assist control, rear camera, rear parking sensors, six airbags, traction control, electronic stability program, vehicle stability control, electronic stability program, silica tyres, leather seats, dual zone AC, 10 way power seat for the driver, cruise control, follow me home headlamps, rear AC vents, smart key with button start, steering mounted audio controls, rear armrest with audio controls and Bluetooth audio system. The Hyundai Elantra is available in six colors namely white, black, silver, red, blue and bronze. Bookings were opened a couple of weeks back.
