Hyundai enters fleet segment with Prime HB and Prime SD CNG models
Hyundai Motor India has formally entered the fleet and taxi segment with the launch of two fleet-only models – the Prime HB and Prime SD. These vehicles are based on the Grand i10 Nios and Aura respectively and are positioned specifically for commercial operators. Bookings for both models have commenced with a token amount of Rs. 5000.
The Prime HB is priced from Rs. 6 lakhs (ex-showroom), while the Prime SD starts at Rs. 6.90 lakhs. For context, the retail Grand i10 Nios CNG is priced higher at Rs. 7.17 lakhs, while the Aura CNG starts at the same price point as the Prime SD. With this move, Hyundai joins other manufacturers such as Maruti Suzuki, Toyota and Tata Motors that already operate dedicated fleet portfolios in India.
Features and equipment
While the Prime HB and Prime SD are simplified versions of their retail counterparts to suit commercial use, Hyundai has retained a set of comfort and safety features aimed at passenger convenience. Standard equipment includes rear AC vents, front Type-C charging ports and power windows for all doors. On the safety front, both models come with six airbags and three-point seatbelts for all occupants as standard.
Operators can also opt for additional accessories such as a 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Another optional feature is a vehicle location tracking system equipped with four strategically placed panic buttons, catering to safety and regulatory requirements for fleet operations.
Powertrain and efficiency
Both the Prime HB and Prime SD are powered by Hyundai’s 1.2-litre four-cylinder petrol engine paired with a factory-fitted CNG kit and a manual transmission. Hyundai claims a fuel efficiency of 27.32 km/kg for the Prime HB and 28.40 km/kg for the Prime SD. In line with commercial vehicle norms, both models are equipped with an 80 km/hr speed limiter from the factory.
Ownership support
To enhance long-term usability for fleet operators, Hyundai is offering an extended warranty covering the fourth and fifth years or up to 1,80,000 km, whichever is earlier. Buyers can also opt for flexible financing solutions with repayment tenures of up to 72 months. Additionally, Hyundai dealerships will have trained fleet care advisors dedicated to handling service and support requirements for commercial customers.
With the introduction of the Prime HB and Prime SD, Hyundai is seeking to establish a stronger presence in India’s organised fleet market, focusing on efficiency, safety and predictable operating costs.
